Dr. Robert R. Redfield is an American virologist best known for his work on HIV/AIDS and his tenure as the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 2018 to 2021.
During his tenure as CDC director he had to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic and how best to protect the country from the virus as well as with the question of the causes and the origins of the crisis. This soon led to deep political conflict between the US and China.
Dr. Redfield obtained his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his residency training in internal medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He served in the US Army Medical Corps and conducted groundbreaking research on HIV/AIDS in the 1980s and 1990s.
